Filter

Introduction

Feature(s)

The Filter tool allows you to filter and view data from charts.

Application Scenario(s)

When viewing data from charts in a dashboard, adjust the filtering criteria to display the data you need. Moreover, you can apply filters to multiple charts simultaneously.

For example, if you want to analyze population statistics, gender ratio, and average scores based on class, filter the data by class to obtain the desired insights.

Preview

For example, you filter data by class, and retrieve information such as number of students, number of classes, and gender ratio.

Setting Procedure

Adding a Filter

Select a dashboard, click , and then click Edit > Filter.

Setting the Filter

To set the filter, set the followings:

  • Select the chart to be filtered
  • Select filter field
  • Configure (setting rules of filter itself)

1. Set the chart to be filtered.

The charts to be filtered refers to those charts on which filtering is effective. You can select multiple charts at one time. All charts in the current dashboard can be filtered.

2. Set filter field.

A filter field refers to the field on which you can filter. If you filter data from the Total Number of Students chart, you can set Class as filter field and view total number of students.

When you select a chart to be filtered, the system will automatically present the chart's data source form under Select filter field. In Data Factory, the source form will be an output form. Within the source form, you can select the supported filter fields that you want to apply as filters for the chart.

If you select multiple charts and they have different data sources, you need to set filter fields to each data source respectively.

3. Configure filter relationships.

Configure the followings:

  • Filter Name: (refers to the name of the first filter field, which can be customized.)
  • Filter By: There are two ways to filter, namely, Select Option and Enter Text. If the selected data sources are more than two, see Multiple-chart Filter with Multiple Data Sources.
  • Initial Value: You can set different filter relationships according to different field types and select default contents to be filtered.

4. Set the filter linkage

If you have multiple filter tools that share the same data source, set Filter Linkage. By setting up the feature, the behavior of the filters will be coordinated to ensure a more refined filtering experience. With Filter Linkage, the filters will work in a sequential manner. After applying a filter, the subsequent filter(s) will only operate on the data that has already been filtered by the preceding filter(s).
