Node Due Time and Overdue Action

Introduction

Functions

Node processing time limit includes Node Due Time and Overdue Action Settings.

a. Node Due Time

You can set a custom time or set the time of the Date&Time field in the form.

b. Overdue Action Settings

  • Auto-remind: remind a certain approver to handle a workflow at a certain time.
  • Auto-submit: automatically submit the workflow at a certain time.
  • Auto-return: automatically return to the workflow after a certain time.

Application Scenarios

Workflows are often used in audit-type workflows. If a node is not processed or delayed for a long time, it will lead to an inefficient workflow. Then, setting a node time limit can circumvent the problem to a degree.

  • Auto-remind: remind relevant members to process timely and avoid omissions.
  • Auto-submit: some unimportant workflows, which do not require strict approval, are automatically submitted after the established time to avoid the workflow backlog.
  • Auto-return: some workflows that must be approved and cannot be automatically submitted, then they can be automatically returned after a certain time, and the workflow reminder will be conducted by the member in charge of the previous workflow.

Preview

If you have set node processing time limits for a node, the system will show the remaining processing time of the node when the node is approved.

This is a paid feature. For details, see Understand Your Account Usage and Limits.

Where to set

Editing a Form

Click Edit to enter the editing page.

Overdue Actions

Click Workflow, select the task node that needs to set the time limit, and then click Set Actions in Advanced.

Setting Procedure

Node Due Time

Set Node Due Time first, and then set the node automatic processing according to the node due time.

The function of Node Due Time supports two types:

  • Custom: set according to the time of arrival at the workflow node. The time precision supports minutes/hours/days. The upper limit is 30 days, and the lower limit is 1 minute.
  • Date&Time field in form: select the time filled in the Date&Time field in the form, for example, the contract expiration time.

Note: When Noe Due Time is to set Date&Time field in form, the maximum time for automatic processing will not exceed one year. If the trigger time is longer than one year, no time-limited processing will be performed.

Automatic Processing Actions

The time-limited processing actions include Auto-remind, Auto-submit, and Auto-return.

Notes

1. For the same workflow node, only Auto-remind can be set more than one. Auto-submit and Auto-return cannot be set more than one and cannot be set at the same time.

2. A workflow node can set up to five limits for processing.

3. The length of automatic processing of a workflow node will not exceed one year. If the trigger time exceeds one year, no time-limited processing will be created.

4. When Date&Time Field in form is selected as the deadline, changing the time data in the form will not change the workflow processing time. The node time limit processing is always based on the deadline filled in when the form is submitted, and the modification of time data after submission is invalid.

5. A record can be auto-submitted at most 50 times.
