How to Properly Configure the Update Record Node

When using the Update Record Node, selecting the target form/node is just the first step. To ensure Automations Pro can accurately identify which data to update and how to update it, you need to configure the following three steps correctly:

  1. Filter the data to be updated.
  2. Set field values.
  3. Establish matching relationships between the data to be modified and the data source.

How to Set up?

This guide uses an example where you modify the math scores. Let's say we want to update the math score of Class A to zero. Let's see how to do it.

Filter the data to be updated

Add filter conditions to locate the data that needs modification. For example, if we want to modify the math scores of class A, we need to add a filter condition.

Set field values

Add the fields to be updated and set their values to inform "automations Pro" what changes to make to the target data. For example, modify Class A's math score to 0:

Establish matching relationships between the data to be modified and the data source

Set modification conditions for many-to-many relationships. The explanation is as follows:

  • During the modification process, if there is only one record in the data source and only one record to modify, automations Pro will naturally use one data record to modify another single record.
  • When there are multiple records in the data source and multiple records to modify, automations Pro cannot determine which specific record(s) to modify when it retrieves a single record from the data source.

Therefore, we need to establish many-to-many relationship conditions.

Note: Subform data in the target dataset that does not match the conditions will not be modified.

More to Know

  1. If Step 3 configuration is not displayed, it means no configuration is required; simply follow Steps 1 and 2.
