Hidden Field Default Value
Introduction
Feature(s)
A hidden field refers to the field in Form/Workflow/Permission Set, which is not permitted to be viewed; It also refers to the field for which you set display rules.
Hidden Field Default Value means setting value assignment rules for the hidden field in a form based on actual conditions.
Definition
There are three options in Hidden Field Default Value: Empty, Original Value, and Always Recalculate.
Type | Definition | Application Scenarios |
The hidden field in a form is empty when you submit the form; In editing a form, the original value of the hidden field will be deleted and be empty. | It can be used in Field Display Rules. In changing the selected option, the input data associated with the original option should be deleted to ensure the correctness of the later statistics.
In submitting/editing a form, the value of the hidden field in a form remains the same as its original value. | It can be used in the workflow where approvers can fill in their own fields without disturbing each other. For example, Approver A and Approver B are approving a workflow. They can only see their own parts. After the former completes and submits the form, the workflow will flow to the latter. After Approver B submits the form, Part A remains the same.
The calculation and submission rules of the hidden field in the form remain the same. That is, when the form is submitted/edited, it is updated every time according to the calculated data. | Generally, values of these fields are assigned through linkage or formulas. To cater to the business needs or pursue a better form layout, these fields are set invisible. This feature can be used in the business system, in which the hidden field, though set to be invisible to the salesman, is linked with the business data. It needs to be recalculated in real-time to ensure the accuracy of the business. |
