Node Actions

Introduction

Feature(s)

Node actions refer to the available actions that approvers can perform on a node. Currently, there are nine options:

  • Submit: save actions at the current node, and advance the workflow into the next node.
  • Stash: save actions at the current node, and stash the entered data into My Tasks.
  • Submit & Print: save actions at the current node, advance the workflow into the next node, and print data.
  • Stash & Print: temporarily save and print workflow data at the current node without submitting them.
  • Return: save actions at the current node, and return the workflow to some node to re-flow.
  • Add Approver: add a pre-approver/post-approver, or add a new approver.
  • Transfer: transfer the workflow to a specified approver.
  • End: save actions at the current node, and end the workflow.
  • Batch Submit: batch submit the workflows to be handled.

Note:

Submit will be a required option and cannot be disabled if Submit&Print is not enabled. All other actions are optional and you can enable/disable them.

Application Scenario(s)

Different nodes have different application scenarios:

Action Type

Scenario

Submit

Advance workflows to next nodes after filling out/confirm all data.

Stash

Temporally retain your actions and save workflows in My Tasks for future handling because you have not filled out/confirmed all data.

Submit & Print

Print data in a workflow, and advance the workflow to the next node.

Stash & Print

Print data in a workflow, and temporarily save the data.

Return

Return the rejected data to a specific node for editing.

Add Approver

Add a temporary approver at the node, for which the current approver cannot make immediate decisions.

Transfer

Transfer tasks to another member because the current approver may be unavailable to handle the tasks.

End

Directly end the workflows in which some data is rejected and does not need to be re-edited.

Batch Submit

Quickly review some simple tasks and make decisions based on some fields in Brief without reviewing workflows one by one.

Using Node Actions

Where to Set

On the Workflow page, select an approval node, and then go to Node Properties > Advanced > Node Actions.

Setting Button Label

To customize the button label, select a node, go to Node Properties > Advanced > Node Actions, click Edit, and modify the button label.

Then the button label will be renewed when you handle tasks.

Note:

Button Label is a required field, and a maximum of 15 characters are allowed.

Submit

Submit is a basic action in the approval process. If you expect a workflow to flow to the next node, perform the action.

You can only disable Submit when enabling Submit & Print.

Stash

To handle the data stashed by the initiator at the start node, go to the workflow management and select My Tasks, or go to Stash in the upper right corner.

For the data that is withdrew/returned to the start node before being stashed, you can only go to the workflow management and select My Tasks.

Submit & Print

The Submit & Print feature allows you to print workflow data and submit them. If you enable the feature, there is no need to enable Submit.

If you enable the feature, configure a print template. You can either select the default template offered by Jodoo or select one of your custom templates.

When you perform the Submit & Print action in a workflow:

  • If you only select one template, you will submit data, and will be directed to the print page.
  • If you select multiple templates, you can select one of them when submitting data.

Note:

1. When you perform the Submit & Print action on mobile, you will be re-directed to download the to-be-printed file.

2. You need to configure Available Scope for the node in Print Templates if you select a custom print template. After you configure, the configured template will be displayed.

Stash & Print

Stash & Print means that you temporarily store and print workflow data without submitting them. If you enable the feature, you should set a print template for it just as you do for Submit & Print. The print template can be selected from the system templates or from the custom ones.

Note:

1. When you perform the Submit & Print action on mobile, you will be re-directed to download the to-be-printed file.

2. For a given node, the print templates used in Stash & Print and Submit & Print are the same.

Return

If you enable Return, select the available node, to which the rejected data is returned to:

Return Scope

Definition

Notes

The previous node

Refers to the node that precedes the current node.

Return the workflow to the previous node that has been worked on, instead of the previous node connected in the workflow chart.

The specified node(s)

Refers to the node(s) you choose under Return Data To. The workflow can only be returned to the nodes within the range.

1. You can only select previous nodes as the nodes to be returned to.

2. You can only return data to the nodes that have been worked on and within the specified range.

3. You can only select one node to return the task.

Add Approver

The Add Approver feature allows you to temporarily add an approver within a workflow. This feature is often applied to the case where the current approver cannot make decision, and another approver is required.

Here are the different ways of adding approvers under different rules:

Rule for Data Flowing

Way of Adding Approver

Data flows to the next node when any one of the approvers submit the workflow.

Add a pre-approver

Add a post-approver

Data flows to the next node when all approvers submit the workflow.

Add a new approver

If you enable Add Approver at a node for a workflow, the approver at the node can assign another approver to review the workflow.

Transfer

Click Node Properties > Advanced > Transfer, and set the available choices for approvers when they need to transfer tasks.

When choosing a member, to whom you transfer tasks, you can only choose one from the range you specified under Designate Alternate Member.

Note:

When transferring tasks, you will only trigger validations on approval comments and duplicates. instead of those upon required fields and workflow submission.

End

If an approver with the workflow-ending permission performs the action in a workflow, the workflow will end immediately and will not flow to the next node.

For example, an approver directly ends a workflow when reviewing the workflow.

Batch Submit

If you enable Batch Submit at a node, approvers can select multiple workflows, and submit them all.

  • On PC

  • On mobile

If you failed to submit workflows in batches, troubleshoot the following two issues:

  • Unable to obtain the information required for the next node rule.
  • Unable to obtain the information on approvers of the next node.

Notes

1. Customized button labels will not be displayed when you access the workflow form via public links. System default values are displayed instead.

2. There will be no Stash button for Workflow Start Node when accessing the workflow form via public links.
