What is Chart Linkage?
Chart Linkage allows you to view related data across multiple charts. When you click data in one chart, the linked charts automatically display the corresponding data, making it easier to view and analyze related information.
When to Use It?
Chart Linkage is useful in analysis scenarios where data needs to be viewed from multiple related perspectives. It helps improve data-viewing efficiency. For example:
Regional Sales Analysis: Click a province in the Sales Overview chart, and the other linked charts automatically display city- and store-level sales details for that province.
Product Mix Analysis: Click a product category in the Category Share chart to view linked charts showing the sales trends, customer composition, and other information related to that category.
Department Operations Analysis: Click a department to view related business metrics, such as its performance, costs, and workforce efficiency.
What does It Look Like?
Taking procurement management as an example, a procurement manager may need to track each buyer's purchasing status and spend. After the manager clicks on a buyer's data, multiple linked charts automatically refresh to provide quick access to relevant information about that buyer. The result is shown below:
How to Set Up?
Limitations
A KPI Card can only respond to Chart Linkage and cannot initiate it.
All other chart types can either initiate Chart Linkage or respond to it.
Accessing the Settings
Select a chart. In the right-side panel, go to Properties > Chart Linkage and click to open the Chart Linkage settings page, as shown below:
Configuring Chart Linkage
Note: Chart Linkage works by filtering data between charts. For example, when chart A is linked to chart B, clicking a data point in chart A causes the system to filter the data in chart B based on the configured linking relationship, which serves as the filter condition. As a result, chart B displays only the related data.
Select the charts you want to link. If a selected chart and the current chart use the same data source, no additional linking relationship is required.
If the charts use different data sources, you need to configure a linking relationship between the two data sources. This relationship determines how the data in the linked chart is filtered and displayed.
The left side lists fields from the current chart's data source. Only Dimension fields can be selected.
The right side lists fields from the linked chart's data source.
Note: You can add up to three linking relationships.
How to Use It?
Initiating Chart Linage
After completing the Chart Linkage settings, click a dimension value in a chart while viewing the dashboard. The linked charts will then display the corresponding data.
Canceling Chart Linkage
Hover over the chart that initiated Chart Linkage and click
in the upper-right corner. This cancels all linking effects initiated by the chart.
Viewing Linkage Sources
A linking icon appears on each linked chart. Hover over the icon
to see which charts are currently linking to it. You can also click
to quickly locate the source chart and cancel the linking.
