MAPX Function Application: Searching for the Last Entered Value

By this case, you can understand how to retrieve and search for the last entered value in the same form through MAPX function.
Application Scenario
- In the case of estate management, search for the last entered reading from meters of water, electricity, and gas in order to calculate the usage and expense.
- In the case of car management, search for the last driving range to calculate oil consumption and monitor the vehicle's maintenance status.
- l In the case of finance management, search for the last entered income, outcome and balance in order to track financial conditions, develop budgets, and generate financial reports.
Preview
Take the example of searching for the last reading while recording electricity meter readings.
1. Enter the very first electricity meter readings of all rooms in Electricity Meter Records.
2. While recording electricity meters regularly, choose the Room Number and then you can get the Last Electricity Meter Reading of this room. Then enter the Current Electricity Meter Reading, the Electricity Usage could be automatically calculated.
How to Set
Building the Form
Create the form Electricity Meter Records, the fields settings are as follows:

Setting Formula
1. Select Last Electricity Meter Reading, set Initial Value as Formula under Field Properties, and click Edit.
2. On the Formula page, set the formula for Last Electricity Meter Reading as MAPX("last",Room Number, Room Number,Current Electricity Meter Reading).
- In the formula, the first parameter Room Number is from the current form, therefore add Room Number at the bottom left column.
- The second and third parameters are from the form Electricity Meter Records, therefore click Change and then select Electricity Meter Records at the bottom left column (not from the current form), then add Room Number and Current Electricity Meter Reading.
3. Likewise, set the formula for Electricity Usage as Current Electricity Meter Reading-Last Electricity Meter Reading, and then click OK to save.
