Functions

The Auto-return function in Overdue Actions of workflow forms means that the workflow will be returned to the last node or the Start node automatically after timeout.

Application Scenarios

Some workflows must be approved manually. Therefore, they need to be set to Auto-return and urged by the approver in last node.

Preview

The workflow will be returned automatically after timeout. People who returns the workflow will be displayed as System Robot in Updates.

Setting Procedure

Where to Set

Select a workflow form and click Edit.

Go to Workflow, select the node that need to be set Auto-return, and click Node Properties > Advanced > Set Actions in Overdue Actions.

Node Due Time

Set Node Due Time for any node in the workflow. (It does not include the Start node, End node, and CC Node.) For details, see Node Due Time.

To view the effect of Overdue Actions more quickly, set Node Due Time to Custom > Workflow reached node 1 Minutes later.

Setting Actions

  • Actions: Auto-return
  • Auto-return Schedule: At Node due time, you can also set it to Later than node due time for.
  • Return To: Previous Node is set by default. You can also set it to Start.

To view the effect more quickly, set them as the following picture.

Click OK and Save after finishing the settings.

Click Save to save the whole workflow form.

Demonstration

Select the form set before and submit a record.

In My Tasks, the approver can view how long it is before the node due time.

The workflow will be returned automatically one minute after the node due time. In Initiated, the return person is displayed as System Robot in Updates.

Note: The return time will be more than one minute because of the queue after submitting.

View the returned workflow in My Tasks > Return.
