Quick Tutorial of Data Factory

Introduction

Data Factory Vocabulary

Following words help you understand the functions of Data Factory.

Function

Definition

Data Factory

Collection of all data streams.

Data stream is the workflow to process data. An assembly line is to a factory what a data stream is to the data factory. Just as multiple assembly lines in a factory work independently and efficiently, so do data streams in the data factory.

Data source is the source of data, proceeding to data streams through the input node. It is equivalent to raw materials used to manufacure products.

Output tables are results calculated by data streams and one data stream can only output one output table. The output table is equivalent to a product of the assembly line.

Data Analysis Workflow

You can calculate and analyze data through Data Factory by the following workflow:

Basic Introduction of Functions

Data Source

In a data factory, only data in forms can be set as data source, including forms in the current and another app.

Data source in the data factory can be inputted through the input node:

Data Stream

Access the data factory page, where each small card represents a data stream. As shown in the following figure:

Click the edit button to adjust or redesign the data stream.

Then enter the design page of the data stream.

Output Table

Output table is the result calculated by data streams. The output table is outputted through the output node. The name of the output table is the same as that of the output node.

Click the output table to enable Sync output table data into forms or preview the data of the output table.
