Differences between Detail Table and Spreadsheet

Both detail tables and spreadsheets can display and manage data in form. The two charts differ from each other in usage.

Members’ access to view data:

Same Permissions As Source Form or Full Access to All Form Data

Actions to export data and single records need to be set separately.

Spreadsheet

Access to view and manage data: Same Permission As Source Form (It is default and cannot be updated, so only forms can be selected as data source.)

No settings are required. Actions to export data and edit a record depend on members’ access to the data source form.

1. Data Permission

In a detail table, you can select Full Access to All Form Data or Same Permissions As Source Form, while in a spreadsheet, you can only select Same Permissions As Source Form.

Access to detail tables is to acquire permission to view data and the actions need to be set separately. Spreadsheets allow members to acquire all permissions.

You can set processing permissions in two ways: on the data detail page and in the form.

Set Use member permissions on handling single record.

Only support Export.

Same Permissions As Source Form in the data source form by default. Actions such as exporting and adding records are included.

In detail tables, members need to set actions so that they can have data processing permissions, but in spreadsheets, actions are the same as those in the data source form.

In the form, detail tables can only support Export, while spreadsheets support actions the same as the form, such as adding and exporting data.
