Edit Records
This passage will tell you how to edit records with custom buttons. Editing a record means that when you click the custom button of a piece of record, the edit page of that field will pop up. After you edit and submit the record, the field value will be updated. Thus, the record in this form can be updated quickly.

Take screening resumes as an example, HR needs to quickly fill in the resume screening information, including Recruitment Manager, Results and Initial Screening Opinion. At this time, HR can click on the “Resume Elimination” button to fill out the resume screening information in one click. The effect is shown below:
How to Edit Records with Custom Buttons?
Step 1 Adding a Custom Button
Click Extension > Custom Buttons > New to add custom buttons.
Step 2 Designing Custom Button Style
Button Style includes Button Name and Style.
- Button Name: The display name of the button, up to 50 characters.
- Style: Customize the style and color of the button, as well as the icon before the button name.
Step 3 Choosing the Display Location
Jodoo supports two button display position options to meet different operational needs:
- Detail page of a record: This is selected by default and cannot be deselected. Once selected, the button will be displayed in the top right corner of the data detail page.
- Grid View: Once selected, the button will be displayed in all the following types of views within the permission group when using the button:
On PC: Grid View, Kanban View;
On Mobile: Gallery View
Step 4 Setting Conditions
1. Add Conditions.
The condition is set to judge the records to ensure that the custom button is available only when the records meet the condition. The configurations you need to set are as follows:
Configuration | Description |
Relationship between Multiple Conditions | When there are multiple conditions, you can choose all of or any of as the relationship between multiple conditons.

Condition Field | Select fields in main forms or system fields(submission information fields). |
Field Relationships | Set the field relationship according to condition fields. The relationship contains equals/does not equal, is greater than or equal to/ is less than or equal to, is empty/is not empty, is between, is within. |
Field Value | Select field value of this form and custom field value according to condition fields. |
2. When conditions are not met.
The custom button will not be available if the record does not meet the conditions. You can set the display state when the button is unavailable according to your needs:
- Hide Button: It is the default state and will not be shown when conditions are not met.
- Show Unclickable Button: The button will be shown but unclickable.
3. Customize Tooltip.
You can customize the tooltip when the button is unclickable to illustrate the specific reasons for unavailability. Once set, when the button is unavailable, members can hover their mouse over the button to view the tooltip.
Step 5 Setting Triggered Action
After selecting Edit Records in Triggered Action, you should set the following configurations:
- Which records do you want to edit: Only Records triggered by the button is available now.
- Fields you want to edit: Add fields that need to be edited and set a field default value when editing.
- Add Fields: You can add single line, multi line, number, date& time, radio, checkbox, single select, multi select, member/members, department/departments, image and attachment fields.
- Set to: The field default value can be set as the field value of this form, custom value or empty.
Click Save after completing all the configurations.
Step 5 Selecting Permission Sets
After clicking Save, the Select Permission Sets page will pop up automatically. On this page, you can grant permissions to members who can use this configured custom button.
Tick permission sets and click OK to grant corresponding members permission to use the button. Or click Cancel to configure no permission sets for now, and then refer to Custom Buttons to configure the permission sets.
Note:
As when the member use the custom button, the triggered actions is editing records in the same form. Therefore, the permission set selected here needs to have records editing permission, otherwise the member will not have editing permission on the records and will not be able to use the custom button properly.
When can you Edit Records with Custom Buttons?
Edit records applies to scenarios where you need to update the records of a specified field in forms. For example:
Lead Back: When a salesperson encounters an invalid lead, he/she can directly update the lead status to "Invalid" by using the "Back" button.
Project Progress Reporting: When reporting progress regularly, project leaders can quickly update project progress information through the "Progress Reporting" button.
Resume Status Update: HR can update the status of resumes to "Eliminated" with one click through the "Eliminate" button when screening resumes at the beginning.
